Electra Limited (http://www.electra.co.nz/) is the electricity network company that owns and operates the electricity lines and distribution assets in the Kapiti/Horowhenua region. It also holds 100% interest in DataCol NZ Ltd.
Electra is owned by the Electra Trust. This Trust holds the shares in the company on behalf of everyone connected to the network. It appoints the Board of Electra, which governs all companies in the Electra Group.
The Electra network stretches from Paekakariki in the south to Foxton and Tokomaru in the north, and inland to the Tararua Ranges. The network assets are worth around $108 million and consist of 10 substations, 2,500 transformers, 22,000 poles and over 2,200 kilometres of underground and overhead lines.
Electra has around 41,000 consumers (growing at around 600-700 per year) of which 35,000 are domestic and 6,000 commercial. All of these consumers receive an annual sales discount on their electricity accounts from Electra.
Electra has a full time staff of 11 with its office in Levin.
Electra Head Office consists of the CEO, Network Team, Finance Team, Company Secretary and Commercial.
The CEO is responsible for all the Electra companies and is supported by an Executive Assistant.
The General Manager Network heads the network team responsible for ensuring that the network is maintained and developed to a standard that ensures a good quality of supply and fair prices.
The Group Finance Manager heads the finance team providing financial services to all companies within the Group. The team is responsible for consolidating the end of month and end year financial statements.
The Company Secretary ensures a high standard of company governance and supports the Board and subsidiaries.
The Group General Manager – Commercial is responsible for investigating and recommending additional sources of revenue and profit for Electra outside its core network revenue, as well as assisting subsidiaries with growth strategies.

The combined Electra Group currently employs about 160 staff. Group turnover is around $64 million with total assets of $169 million.
